Derby Wedding at Lumb Farm - Marehay, Derbyshire
Wow what a beautiful wedding to be part of. Casha & Craig were married last April at Lumb Farm, near Derby.
I was no stranger to this place having done a Christening party there the summer before so knew the venue quite well. My morning started with some bridal preparations before a short drive down the road to the bride and groom’s house. Christina stayed with the bride.
At the groom’s was the groom’s father, the bride’s stepfather, the best man and groom’s little brother and the groom’s son. I simply got on and documented the events from the children playing to the adults getting the final bits of wedding attire on before leaving for the ceremony venue.
Once the bridal party had arrived, it was time for the bride, Casha to make her entrance up the extensive driveway leading to Lumb Farm in a horse drawn carriage superbly being pulled by two gorgeous black horses wearing plums of blue feathers. It was a beautiful moment to document.
Once inside, the ceremony began with Casha’s mum giving her daughter’s hand in marriage to Craig. Then came the exchange of wedding vows and rings before sealing the deal with the first kiss. Always a momentous occasion to photograph if you get lucky enough at that time. A round of applause, some great music and down the aisle as husband and wife.
Then it was time for a quick ride in the carriage, the more formal portraits before a few minutes of alone time with the bride and groom. Before all the guests embark into the wedding breakfast a got a few moments to document some of the splendid room decor and the cake of course. Then it was time for the guests to take their seats and for the bride and groom to make their entrance. Then behold the speeches, the bride’s mum remaining seated for hers but what a speech it was as it was a done to a rap beat, which had everyone listening. Then the groom’s speech full of emotion followed by the quick witted best man.
A spare few moments and the spring sky drawing to a close, we all went outside to get some fresh air and to take another 5 minutes with the bride and groom. Not quite the sunset we had hoped but still is was dry with a little hint of stormy clouds with a tinge of orange as the sun set. Back inside for the party…. and that’s where my part of documenting this lovely wedding ends just after the first dance and the mother & daughter dance.
