St Peter's Church Wedding Hartshorne - Crow's Nest at Barton Marina - Emily & Rick

Blog Ramblings

It’s late on a Friday afternoon in mid-October and I take a look at my very much neglected blog page - oops. It’s been a weird year. Since the beginning of 2020 back in January, I haven’t photographed one wedding. Like many others most have been postponed until 2021/2022. I have missed them terribly and yes I did lose my mojo for blogging!

I have still been taking photos but more horses and dogs this year with some fab family shoots too which I will blog at some point (not the horses or dogs though - not here as I have a separate page for those).

Anyway, enough of my short, nonsense ramblings. Today’s blog features the high energy charged wedding of Emily and Rick.

The Wedding Ceremony

So my day began at the bride’s home to photograph the bridal preparations. There I met very talented make-up artist Perfectivity by Danielle who did an amazing job of all the ladies of the bridal party’s make-up. On hair was the talented Steph of Steph’s Salon based in Swadlincote who also did an great job. The bridal prep was so much fun with plenty of giggles with Emily spraying her lawn with a bottle of fizz followed by has trip in her fiance’s shiney new wheelbarrow! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much during the preps. My second shooter Rob, was with the groom and his gathering of Ford Focus ST enthusiasts over the Mercure Newton Park Hotel who came to give him a tone of support on his wedding day.

Emily’s beautiful gown was from Matilda Bentley which was situated on The Delph but has sadly closed now. Didn’t she look beautiful though? Her figure is amazing!!

The ceremony took place at the lovely village church of St Peter’s in Hartshorne. This would be my second time photographing a wedding here. I do love a fab local wedding! It was smiles and laughter all round. I think the photos really highlight this.

Once outside it was mingling with the guests before a confetti send off then a little drive to Barton Marina for the reception.

The Wedding Reception - Crow’s Nest - The Waterfront, Barton Marina

What a fabulous room to have your reception. It has amazing views and balcony looking out over the Marina. The room is huge and away from the bar downstairs. There are fabulous grounds for photos albeit we didn’t really get a chance to explore them fully on the wedding day as timings were tight with it being a late afternoon wedding. What we did do was have a great time after the first dance using the Marina front and it’s beautiful surrounds and lighting!

Speeches were full of emotion even the groom shed a tear or two! Emily smiled constantly throughout and you couldn’t meet a happier bride.

There was a Flash Mob dance to Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ a routine put together by the mother of the bride, her sister, the friends and bridesmaids and it was fun! I can honestly say this was a brilliant wedding day and hope you enjoy watching the wedding photofilm and seeing a selection of favourite photos and more detail shots of the day.
