Alison House, Cromford, Matlock - Derbyshire Wedding Photography
Back to the summer of 2018 and it’s now August, yay! I was second shooting with Christina Michelle Photography for a late afternoon ceremony at the beautiful Alison House in Cromford, Derbyshire. Alison House is a Georgian style House built by the Arkwright Family and set in the Derwent Valley world Heritage site. Set in seven acres of grounds with beautiful gardens in a peaceful setting, yet only a short walk from Cromford and the cable cars and attractions of Matlock Bath. It makes it a great venue to either get away from it all, yet still be close enough to explore the local town, or hold an intimate wedding ceremony.
I love intimate, small weddings. You become a part of family so to speak. This wedding was no exception, with around 45/50 guests in attendance. It was a perfect day for a late afternoon wedding. We managed to photograph both the bride and groom during the preparations as they were getting ready in the same venue just out of sight of one another. From sunshine to afternoon tea then a tea dance and jiving well into the evening. Such a great day to be part of loved every moment of it. Amanda’s dress was gorgeous and she looked flipping fabulous wearing it. Not traditional in the slightest but it was certainly made for her bubbly fun outgoing personality and growing up in the 50’s rock n’ roll frocks were huge. I love them and own a few big skirts myself!
These images working as a second photographer are through my eyes and this is typically how I work anyway just positions somewhat change a little!
