A Coach House, Derby - An Intimate Micro Wedding
I’m so excited to share this beautiful wedding with you all. It was one of those Sunday’s where two people very much in love celebrated their love in front of family and friends at this rather unique wedding venue called the Coach House. Located just outside the city of Derby nestled in the suburban area of Darley Abbey. It is such a beautiful place which is perfect for the more intimate wedding with just your close family and friends. I thoroughly loved being here and documenting Alexa & James’ wedding celebration. Alexa and James had already legally tied the knot at the civil offices at Amber Valley Council back in October 2020 but due to Covid restrictions, couldn’t celebrate this momentous occasion with their family and friends, so why not just simply do it twice?? I’m so glad they did as it was a remarkable day and one of my all time favourite weddings of 2021. I have a few favourites of course!
My day began with the latter stage of the bridal preparations where both hair and makeup were being done. AND wow Alexa just looked amazing!! I had no second photographer as it was a small wedding in any case and with everything being in one place, it was easy to duck in and out of the preparations to capture other things. The moment I saw Alexa’s stunning wedding dress, named Honor, I knew she was going to look amazing in it. It’s so so beautiful with its intricate lace details and optional sleeves lovingly designed by Madi Lane Bridal and sold by Pretty White Dress Boutique (I’ll pop the links in at the end). Alexa’s gorgeous accessories were by the extremely talented Alabaster Dream.
The Ceremony
An intimate ceremony with the most gorgeous personal vows with the couple’s close friend as celebrant and another close friend singing one of Alexa and James’ favourite songs by written by Bob Dylan, titled the ‘Wedding Song’. Alexa’s good friend also gave the perfect reading for this truly beautiful couple. Following the ceremony came the confetti as the happy couple walked back down the aisle with the biggest smiles possible. Then there were lots of hugs, chatter and many smiles. It’s just so wonderful seeing so many incredibly happy and emotional moments and even better to document them forever.
Darley Abbey Park
After welcome drinks and canopes we all walked to the park for photos and to play lawn games. What an absolute giggle with the plastic water filled bowls for a game of Boule where pretty much everyone had a go. There was also time for family and friends to simply chill out and enjoy the gorgeous August sunshine. It was at this time that I took the opportunity to take Alexa and James off for a short time for their portraits together around the Darley Park gardens in similar style to their previous engagement session a few weeks beforehand.
After an hour of so it was time to head back to the Coach House for food and that’s where my day came to an end in terms of wedding photography. I couldn’t have asked for a better day. It was simply beautiful and I really enjoyed working at the Coach House and hope to capture more beautiful micro weddings there going forward.
So yes if you’re planning a micro wedding and are in need of a wedding photographer, I can most certainly help if the availability is there.
