A Peak Edge Hotel Wedding with Tipi Reception in Derbyshire

A bright sunny day was instore for Alex and Adam’s wedding celebration over a the Peak Edge Hotel, near Chesterfield, which lets agree when you’ve got an outdoor wedding ceremony booked and a tipi reception, you do kind of want it to be super gorgeous weatherwise. Alex didn’t want any of her bridal preparations covering so it was straight to the venue for both Rob (my then second photographer) and I.

The Venue - Ceremony Only

So let’s just have a little chat about the venue - without a doubt it is beautiful. It’s oldy worldy beams indoors with a modern touch to it’s ceremony/dining room it is one of the in places to get married. This is what the venue say…..

Nestled on the edge of Derbyshire’s beautiful Peak District National Park, serenity and sophistication come together to create an elegant setting for your special day.

An idyllic setting, with all you need to make your perfect country wedding a reality – stunning grounds, oak beams, vaulted dining rooms and roaring open fires to set the scene.

Full of charm and character and with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the venue combines the classic natural beauty of the Peak District countryside with a modern boutique elegance.

I have to agree with them it is a superb place to get married and you’re well looked after.

So Alex was to arrive in a Land Rover Defender 90 which if you don’t know me, I’m a huge fan of Land Rover’s and love the ole Defender. Sadly I don’t have one as they’re just not practical for me right now! BUT never say never! Alex arrived with her sister and along with Alex’s Hungarian Vizsla who was going to be a huge part of the wedding by giving Alex away with dad. Anyone wondering where Alex’s beautiful bridal gown was from - tit was purchased from the wonderful Bakewell Brides.

A quick ceremony then it was off for canapes, hugs, kisses and my favourite, the confetti moment! Wow it really didn’t disappoint. We then went on to the formalities of the formal portraits which were around 5-6 as that’s all the happy couple wanted. They just wanted natural documentary stuff of their day which is exactly what I specialise in! So happy couple, happy photographer!!

The Second Venue - Tipi

Moving onto the second wedding venue which was a private farm where Alex kept her horses just outside Wingerworth near Chesterfield. Once there, a huge tipi adorned with bench like tables, comfy sofas and poofs/beanbags awaited guests. Prosecco poured, the gin bar open, games all ready to play all waiting for the happy couple to arrive and their guests. I cannot tell you how well the games went down providing hours of fun entertainment.

Moving swiftly onto the speeches which were exceptional. Even the bride got up and did her thing! I love it when brides get up and say a few funny things plus the thank yous of course. Gin, prosecco, pizza and live music were the order for the evening! Now I think I’ve rambled on enough now so here’s a photo slideshow of the day and a selection of other images from the wedding.
